For plants that include
several potentially isolated
conductive parts, the Earth-Rite
Multipoint monitoring system
from Newson Gale Inc., provides
protection against dangerous
static electricity buildup in any
and all of the various
components.
Typical applications include
powder handling,
filling/discharging equipment,
fluid bed dryers, pipelines,
conveyers and ducting, among
many others, especially where
one or more parts of the
assembly must be disconnected periodically. The Multipoint system may be used to provide
individual status indications or it can be linked to a “lock-out” control system, preventing operation of
the equipment till proper grounding has been obtained.

The intrinsically safe system ensures that all elements are connected together and safely
grounded, providing up to eight interconnected channels from a single intrinsically safe supply. It
produces positive outputs with individual indications only when the resistance to ground is less than
10 ohms. And, an important design criterion is that the sum of all the circulating currents does not
compromise the intrinsic safety of the monitoring system. For applications with more than eight
points two or more systems may be combined, and a versatile range of connections and cables are
available to provide the connection point onto the equipment to be monitored.
The system is ATEX approved for use in hazardous atmospheres and is currently used by many
leading global pharmaceutical and specialty chemical manufacturers.
The Earth-Rite Multipoint system is just part of the Cenelectrex® range of static grounding and
bonding equipment available from Newson Gale Inc., the Lakewood, NJ based specialists in static
control for hazardous areas.
